What does it cost to participate in The Great American Motorcycle Adventure?
The entire “Adventure” is $150 for the entire ride or $65 for each 3 leg segment you want certified.  If you decide to take a passenger and they wish to qualify and be eligible for the award certificate, sticker, pin and web site recognition there is an additional $50 fee. Passengers may ride without paying the fee but will not receive the awards, be listed on the web site, or receive additional items.  Drivers and passenger are eligible for the photo book and duplicates are available. You must register BEFORE the ride begins.  You will be issued a registration number after we receive the registration form.  Allow 2 weeks for delivery.  Registrants must commence their ride within two years once the registration number is issued.

Can you explain more about The Great American Motorcycle Adventure and how the route is determined?
We wanted to create a ride that combines a trip around the United States and incorporate great sites at the same time.  To become an Adventure finisher you must visit and document a visit to all 12 sites or segments of 3 sites at a time.  We provide a Certificate for each of three segments and also a final one if  all 12 are completed during the 2-year period.  If you decide to do it all at once you have 30 days.  If you decide to do it in segments you have 7 days for each of 3 destinations.  You can not duplicate a destination.  You decide when you leave, what your route will be, and if you travel alone or with others. You decide which sites you visit first and you can do them in ANY ORDER.  You will, however receive a certificate of completion for each segment of 3 and then a final certificate for completing the entire ride.  There is no restriction to visiting other places along the route so long as you document a visit to each destination and complete 3 destinations within 7 days or all 12 destinations in 30 days or less.  You may complete 6 or 9 destinations as well as long as you complete the trip in 7 days per 3 destination segment.  Here are the destinations:  Click on link:

How do I document the ride?
Riders obtain computer generated (location, date and time) gas receipt and a digital picture with your motorcycle at each of the 3, 6, 9, or 12 destinations depending on your goals.  For complete details, see General Rules on the Registration page.

How many miles will I ride?
We estimate the average rider will travel between 7700 and 8000 miles from the first site to the last though your total mileage will vary based on how far you travel to the first site. No other destinations may be substituted for those listed, but you may add stops as long as you visit the 12 sites listed, and complete the ride in 30 days or less.  For those riders doing 3 destinations at a time your mileage will vary based on the sites you decide to visit.  Plan you route to fit the distance you want to travel and the sites you want to see first.  You can visit the sites in any order as long as you do not duplicate a destination.

Okay, I’m interested, so what do I get for my money?
We have spent a lot of effort putting the Great American Motorcycle Adventure together for you. Completing this ride is a significant undertaking and we have spent a lot of time and money trying to make this a good value. We invested in equipment and software in order to design a professional hardcover photo book.  The book is optional ($125 for first book, $100 for duplicates), and produced using your photographs after you complete the “Adventure.”  The designers of the ride have produced materials for you to minimize your work in organizing your ride based on the thousands of miles they traveled to put this ride together.  Included with the registration fee is a hardcover notebook containing a custom designed travel/expense log which is VERY easy to follow and use. Also contained in the notebook is a zippered pouch for gas receipts and a pocket to store hotel receipts. We have designed the Adventure so you get to plan where you go and spend less time fumbling with paperwork that is easily misplaced. We are always looking for ways to improve the ride and are partnering with businesses to offer discounts to our riders.

Below is a list of items in your registration package:
  • A notebook containing materials to document your ride and store receipts.
  • A custom designed Great American Motorcycle Adventure sticker.
  • A one year subscription to Road Runner Motorcycle Touring magazine ($29.95 value).
  • Road Runner magazine is provided to a rider registering for any segment of the ride. If you do not complete the entire ride in year one and sign up for a segment in the second year, you will receive a second year subscription to the magazine!  (a $59.90 value)

Upon completing the ride and verification is complete, you will receive the following items:

Certificate identifying you as a Great American Motorcycle Adventure finisher.
